A MUSICAL CELEBRATION OF AN EXTRAORDINARY LIFE: PATRICIA A. CORBETT
WILL BE HELD SATURDAY, MARCH 29
Cincinnati Performing Arts Community Pays Tribute to Beloved Philanthropist
Patricia Corbett with Free Concert in Music Hall
CINCINNATI—"A Musical Celebration of an Extraordinary Life: Patricia A. Corbett," a free, public event dedicated to the memory of the generous and celebrated philanthropist Patricia Corbett, will be presented in Music Hall on Saturday, March 29 at 11 a.m.
Mrs. Corbett and her late husband J. Ralph Corbett were champions for performing arts in Cincinnati and among the city’s most generous arts supporters. Mrs. Corbett died January 28, 2008.
"Mrs. Corbett was such a visible presence in our arts community," says Karen McKim, executive director of The Corbett Foundation. "People recognized her; they looked forward to seeing her at concerts and chatting with her at intermission. This free concert offers the opportunity for people to celebrate Cincinnati’s beloved Patricia Corbett, and the chance to say farewell."
Hosting the concert is WGUC’s Naomi Lewin. The program will include performances by Cincinnati Opera soprano Jane Jennings and tenor Mark Panuccio, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the May Festival Chorus, University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music’s 2008 musical theater senior class, members of Northern Kentucky University’s Azmari Quartet, and two groups from the School for Creative & Performing Arts. Featured conductors include Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Music Director Paavo Järvi, opera impresario and former May Festival Music Director Julius Rudel, and Cincinnati Ballet Music Director Carmon DeLeone. The concept of the free concert and much of the programming was created by Mrs. Corbett’s late son, Thomas R. Corbett.
The concert is made possible through the generous contributions of time and resources donated by the participating organizations and individuals, including the facilities for the concert donated by the Cincinnati Arts Association.
"A Musical Celebration of an Extraordinary Life: Patricia A. Corbett" is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required. Doors to Music Hall will open at 10 a.m. and the auditorium will open at 10:45 a.m. For more information or to arrange for handicapped-accessible seating, please call the Cincinnati Arts Association Ticket Office at (513) 621-2787 or visit www.CincinnatiArts.ORG.
